Governor's leave of absence from the state : Governor Earle C. Clements, 1948-1950.

These records document the governor's absences from and returns to the state. The governor's office notified the secretary of state whenever the governor left the state, and designated who would serve as "acting governor" in his place; this was usually the lieutenant governor. The secretary of state was also notified upon the governor's return.
